Rated Gursha proved to be an excellent place to embark on a unique and novel Ethiopian culinary experience. I was invited for a media preview/bloggers event for the launch of Eskista nights at the Gursha restaurant where every Friday visitors will enjoy traditional dance performances along with food. Situated on the palm, this place boasts itself with beautiful views over the water coupled with relaxed laid back vibe and resident DJ playing peppy music which certainly adds up to the charm of the place. It has both inside and outside seating which would be perfect place to unwind during the pleasant weather in UAE. I absolutely loved the ethnic Ethiopian ambiance with a twist of modernity in its decor. Being an alien to this cuisine, I was little hesitant regarding the vegetarian aspect this place will offer. But I was pleasantly surprised and was not disappointed a bit. We started off with fruit punch mocktail which was just okay. Onto our starters we sampled veg spring rolls and chickpea balls. Spring rolls had a perfectly crispy exterior and was absolutely non oily. It tasted delicious with the accompanied sweet chilly sauce. Ethiopian cuisine is a communal experience which is basically centered around sharing. For the main course, we had their vegetarian sampler platter which was served along with injera bread. Injera is their sour dough bread made up of Teff grain which is gluten free. The platter consisted of a tangy chick pea stew, lentil stew, fresh salad, pieces of injera bread soaked in some sort of curry. The dishes were very flavorful with a sharp kick of spice. I thoroughly relished it. For the desserts, we had mini servings of Chocolate fudge and some fruit flavored custard dessert. Being a chocolate lover, I absolutely loved the chocolate fudge which was rich and super indulgent. We also had a visual treat of watching traditional Ethiopian dance performances which was very energetic. Overall, this place is a perfect mix of Ethiopian food, culture and its music, all juggled in one place. From warm hospitality to delectable food, from lovely music to wonderful dance performances, our experience at Gursha was absolutely wonderful and memorable. Most definitely recommended!!!!
