Free Coffee All Week from McDonald’s

Did somebody say free?  We all love a bargain and there’s no better bargain than a big fat juicy zero next to the price tag, is there?

McDonald’s in Dubai is offering up completely 100% free coffee all week from 6:00 AM until 10:00 AM from every single one of its branches in Dubai.  From the 9th of January until the 15th of January, you can take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to get your caffeine fix for free each morning.

If you’re staying at any of the cheap hotels in Dubai, you’re in luck for this free coffee morning.

McDonald’s has done a lot in recent years to improve the taste, quality and selection of coffees it serves.  The new beverages offered by McDonald’s are definitely an improvement on some of the coffees I’ve had from McDonald’s in the past few years, and are even beginning to rival some of the dedicated coffee chains that are omnipresent wherever you go.

Walid Fakih, the General Manager of McDonald’s, said last year, ‘We understand how important the coffee culture is for consumers in the UAE and we are committed to continuously evolve our offerings to give customers the taste and convenience that they expect from McDonald’s,’ and it’s certainly showing with their occasional, ‘Free Coffee for a Week,’ offers that they keep coming up with.

We can never turn our nose up at something free and definitely not from one of our new favourite places to get a delicious cup of coffee.

There isn’t a lot of information about this from the McDonald’s’ Arabia website, however it is implied that you can get yourself any of the McCafe beverages completely free for one week only between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM.

The McCafe beverage menu includes:  Coffee, Latte, Mocha, Espresso, Americano, Hot Chocolate, Cappuccino and Tea.  However, the wording of the offer implies it’ll only be coffee based drinks that are free, so, you’ll likely be able to grab yourself a free Coffee, Latte, Mocha, Espresso, Americano or Cappuccino.

For those of you who are new to the coffee world and are going to use this as an opportunity to try out which coffee is best suited for your tastes, here’s a little bit of information about each drink and how they differ.

Coffee (Black)

This is your regular old black brewed coffee.  No milk, cream or sugar added to it.  This one’s good if you’re a big fan of pure coffee flavour.  Very similar to an Americano.

Latte (Caffé Latte)

A caffé latte (literally translates into coffee with milk) is a creamy and gentle coffee drink.  It’s a shot of espresso with a lot of steamed milk poured on top of it and topped with a small layer of foamed milk.  It’s popular to add a squirt of syrup to flavour this coffee, usually vanilla or caramel but it’s quite nice as a plain caffé latte.

Mocha

A mocha certainly panders towards a sweeter tooth, a mocha is a shot of espresso with a shot of chocolate layered on top and topped off with steamed milk.  Strong coffee and chocolate flavours mix well to create this aromatic drink.

Espresso

This single shot of espresso is a quick and easy way of getting your caffeine but, be warned, it’s basically just concentrated coffee in hot water.  No frills, just pure taste.

Americano

An Americano is made with an espresso shot topped off with hot water.  Similar to a black coffee with a more subtle flavour.

Cappuccino

A Cappuccino is made in a very similar way as a latte, but with equal parts foamed and steamed milk.  Experiment to see whether you prefer a latte or a cappuccino if you’re looking for a smooth coffee drink.  Cappuccino is a shot of espresso with equal parts steamed milk and then foamed milk layered on top.
