Christmas Spirit at the Irish Village
There’s loads of Christmas cheer to go around at the Irish Village and one of the greatest community spirited festive traditions that we have, the communal lighting of the Christmas Tree will be taking place at the Irish Village at Garhoud.
There’s going to be plenty of things to see and do around the city but make sure you pencil in at least one night at the Irish Village!
We’d also recommend taking advantage of some of the great deals on cheap hotels in Dubai.
The Irish Village
The Irish Village is certainly one of our favourite locations in Dubai. This is as authentic an Irish experience you can hope for. There are a few great locations in Dubai where you can get a real feel for Ireland but the Irish Village is one of the most popular for a reason.
With a great indoor seating area and bar area, you’re always able to watch the latest sporting exhibition on the huge TVs or enjoy some of the great music being played from the speakers or live performers.
Then, of course, there’s the huge outdoor seating area next to a lovely patch of grass and a nice pond. The ducks are pretty friendly, too, a bit too friendly sometimes but they’re usually just hoping for a couple of chips and they’ll be on their way.
The Irish Village usually puts on some great live performers and you’ll usually find somebody singing or performing with a guitar in the evenings.
The Festive Season at the Irish Village
The Irish Village is going all out this season with some fantastic Christmas offerings and some huge events.
One of the first will be, of course, one of our favourites, switching on the lights of the Christmas Tree. This great event gives us all a sense of community and helps to spread the Christmas cheer. Alongside the lighting of the Christmas Tree will be a Christmas Jumper competition, mince pies going around (feel free to host your own mince pie eating competition so I can win something this year)
The annual tree lighting event will be taking place on the 4th of December and then from then onwards, the festive season will be kicking off with some amazing festivities.
On the 13th of December the Irish Village will be hosting the beginning of the Twelve Days event, where you’ll be able to grab yourself a lovely traditional three-course meal with all the typical trimmings for 150 AED (£30) per person.
Right before the Big Day, on the 24th of December, the Irish Village will be hosting a fantastic free Christmas Eve party with music from the resident DJ, Marky Mark, and finally on the 25th of December you can celebrate in true Dubai fashion with a huge festive buffet for the whole family. There’s even rumours the big man himself, St Nick, will be making an appearance, prices for the buffet start at 199 AED (£40) and 99 AED (£20) for kids under the age of 12.
