The Burj Khalifa’s Light Show Continues
When you land on something good, it’s generally accepted that you should hold on to it for as long as possible and it seems that’s exactly what Dubai is planning on doing with their world record breaking Burj Khalifa Light Show.
This fantastic shoe was showcased on New Year’s Eve for the countdown to 2018 and has been praised since and, now, we’ve heard it’s going to continue for much longer than expected. Fantastic for those who missed it.
If you want to be witness to a record breaking light and laser show on the world’s tallest building, well, you’d better get to booking your cheap hotel in Dubai so that you can come and see it before it’s gone for good.
The Show Must Go On
Some of the best news we’d received all year (get it?) was that the Burj Khalifa’s, ‘Light Up 2018,’ laser and light show is going to be extended until the end of March. One of the most impressive light shows we have ever seen, the show is an amazing display of technology and innovation.
Instead of a firework display in 2017, the Burj Khalifa opted instead to display a massive laser and light show on the side of the Burj Khalifa, setting a new world record for the largest laser and light show on the planet. The show takes place via new LED panels which are affixed to the Burj Khalifa as well as huge lasers, lights and more to really show off the building.
The new LED panels mount up to more than 1.1 million pixels and feature over 118 tonnes of light beams to create this stunning display, utilising more than 28.7km of cables and temporarily turning Dubai’s Downtown area into one of the brightest places on the planet.
New Year’s Eve saw the arrival of more than one million visitors to see the brand new display to bring in the New Year. The show is created around showcasing the cultural traditions of the Middle East and Dubai. With a strong focus on culture and tradition, the building’s display features Arabic calligraphy, falconry and some other strong identifiers of Middle Eastern culture.
The show takes place for 7 minutes and will be taking place 5 days a week. Definitely something to show any guests or visitors you might have before the end of March.
The Burj Khalifa Light and Laser show takes place at the Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai, as you might have guessed, but it will only be viewable from one side. For the best views you should try and get to Souk Al Bahar or the Dubai Fountains.
The laser and light show will be completely free, every single night, however we’d recommend watching from one of the many great restaurants in the area which will obviously cost you.
The show will be taking place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM and then on Thursdays and Fridays at 10:00 PM.
The show will continue until March 31st of 2018.
