4 Must-See Things in The Dubai Mall
The Dubai Mall is the largest shopping mall in the world. With over 5.4 million square foot of retail floor area and more than 1,200 shops inside, there’s something there for everyone.
Situated in the ultra-cool and prestigious Downtown Dubai, the Dubai Mall is an iconic feature of Dubai sitting at the base of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. The Dubai Mall has some amazing things to see and do inside, and here are 6 fantastic things we think you should see at The Dubai Mall.
Best of all, they’re completely free so pair them with a cheap hotel in Dubai and you’re about to have a bargain blast.
The Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo
The Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo is one of the biggest indoor aquariums in the world and currently holds the record of the largest acrylic panel, holding back the immense amount of water required to house over 100 species of aquatic life.
Outside the aquarium will always draw a major crowd and it’s quite peaceful among the hustle and bustle of the mall to take a few minutes and watch the fish swirl around the tank.
To stand and watch is completely free but if you want to go inside and walk the underwater tunnel, ride the glass bottom boat or take a dip inside the tank you’re going to need to purchase a ticket. We quite like watching it, though.
Largest OLED Screen
Situated right above the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo is the largest OLED screen in the world, certified by the Guinness World Records this 1.7 billion pixel screen was designed by LG. It’s the highest resolution video wall in the world and the largest high-definition video screen in the world.
The best way to see this screen is from the 2nd or 3rd floor, right above the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo.
This gigantic curved screen really is an amazing technological feat.
The Dubai Dino
Located in the iconic Dubai Mall Souk, the Dubai Dino is a favourite meeting place due to the lack of crowds and easy access to the entrances of the mall. The Dubai Dino is one of the most complete dinosaur fossil collections in the world, any more complete and it would be walking around and I prefer it stationary.
This huge Diplodocus Longus skeleton sits right above the patio for the Cheesecake Factory, so it’s nice to see if you can grab a table and have some lunch or take a seat on any of the benches located around the atrium for free.
The Human Waterfall is an iconic water feature located inside the Dubai Mall. This huge piece is strangely soothing as you look up at the figures of men diving down. The fiberglass sculptures are shown to be swan diving down the waterfall and the rush of water behind them really gives you a sense of movement and life.
It’s perfect for a photo opportunity, so make sure you’ve got your best camera with you and see if you can find a nice spot for a good photo.
